Robert Manser

Robert Manser

Rob loves his boy bands and has worked with most of them. When it became too hard to work in Australia with the media - he started Giving a voice to the pop culture scene for over 16 years (check dates depending on when you read this.) In his other life he is a creative director, film maker, photographer and designer... but pop is his one true love. Along with imaginary boyfriends, Nick Lachey and Channing Tatum  (his husband approves).

Donavon Frankenreiter : Pass It Around

From the up tempo opening guitar riff on this CD to the final send off, you will feel a solid, inspirational and motivated effort by a very talented musician.

Donovan brings us his third and most likely biggest hit album with this offering. Its appealing to multiple markets, has a great sound you could hear on a TV promo for summer - or at the most “credible” indie pub on a Sunday afternoon. Its fun and stylish without being pretentious. Its just great music full stop.

Do yourself a favour and go out and check out this artist and all his releases - I am sure you will be pleasantly surprised - I know I was!

VA: MOS Clubbers Guide Spring 2008

Can I kiss the MOS team squarely on the mouth - possibly with tongues!? I LURVE this CD compilation. I was totally surprised that Groove Terminator was back back back with this CD, very cool mixes by GT and Raye Antonelli. Its touted as the Spring edition - and its a great way to shake off the winter blues for sure. Tracks like Hearts On Fire (Cut Copy) and Love Me Love You (Tommy Trash) just make you want to go out and buy lots of festival tickets!

Shannon Noll : Summertime

I am a fan of Shannon Noll - I like his appeal, style and sound - but this track unfortunately does nothing for him.

Why record a lead song for an upcoming “greatest hits” album - when it really does not suit the artist?

Its a shame as Shannon has the potential to outlast many non Idol artists - his Aussie and international appeal is undisputable - but this song is just a silly choice.

He writes better tracks himself and this is just a darn shame.

The million selling lad should be treated better than this.

Its not a hideous song - its just not worthy of Shannon Noll. zzzzzzzz

VA: Hip Hop The 2008 Collection

Whoever put this CD together had the label interest at heart rather than actually producing a credible hip hop album you could actually call “hip hop”!

Since when are Nelly Furtado, Fergie or Janet Jackson hip hop?

You’d think I am just bitching - but the list goes on and on. This release should be called “The best from Universal Music’s Commercial Music Catalogue” rather than Hip Hop 2008.

No wonder fans crack the shits when things are misrepresented. If the labels cant get it right then should they be surprised when it does not sell?

DARREN HAYES : Time Machine Tour

This had to be THE creative tour of 2007 & now you can check out what all the fuss was about - filmed in Brisvegas, you can get not one - but two versions of the show - the first is a limited edition DVD available from & the other is from your favourite local store! Do yaself a favour & check out THE show from THE performer of the year!

You can check out our exclusive interview with Darren Hayes in Episode 5 of the TV Show.

VA : Homegrown Roots Vol 3

You have to love this series - fully hooked up and brilliant music. This disc is the perfect (and most cost effective) way of getting the cream of the indie music crop. With artists like Ash Grunwald, John Butler, The Orphans, Benjalu and Paul Kelly to name a few, its a mix that will definitely keep you content til the next volume is released.

KATY PERRY : One Of The Boys

From the metrosexual bashing You’re So Gay (which is H-I-Larious!) to the Lesbo-licious ‘I Kissed A Girl’ Katy Perry has been singing her way through the gender minefield with awesome pop sensibilities and catchy hooks galore!

The album is just as good as her first two singles and we have it on high rotation.

Definitely destined to be one of the standout artists of 2008, Katy offers up 12 tasty morsels on ‘One Of The Boys’....

We just want to know if she will be headlining Sleaze Ball or Mardi Gras anytime soon? If so, we will be front and centre!

Loving it!

With a 22 page press release in tow, the best of the Whitlams landed on my desk - and to be honest I only thought they had one or two hits.

No doubt they are an awesome band, so if you are only familiar with their top 40-penetrating material, this disc will get you up to speed.

The Whitlams have had a long and interesting career - especially on the live circuit, & they should be proud of such a showcase piece. Oh did I mention it comes with a bonus DVD?

DOLLY PARTON : Backwoods Barbie

OK, this has to be one of THE releases of 2008 to date. Her appearance on American Idol performing ‘Jesus and Gravity’ proved to any doubters that Dolly definitely has a lot of life left in her. Not only was it released on her own label, but her song-writing skills SHINE on this disc.

Dolly also performs a couple of covers including ‘Drives Me Crazy’ by Fine Young Cannibals and the Motown classic, ‘The Tracks of My Tears’ giving them a really cool Nashville twist.

A Total talent and a disc worthy of Grammy nomination for sure! The artwork for the album is brilliant too - so its well worth the trip to the record store to buy the physical copy.
