Fans are attempting to raise $877.7m to buy the group by starting an online campaign.
The 'Buy One Direction' campaign was launched by 16-year-old New Yorker Kate following allegations that the group's management caused Zayn Malik to leave.
Kate wrote on gofundme.com: "Whats gonna happen is were gonna raise all the money we can (sic).
"If we get the 87.7 mil were gonna contact modest through their business email/ in person and use the buyout clause which is on every modest!"
She continues: "If the goal is not met then were going to write checks for American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, NEDA, And Comic Relief."
Its a huge amount of money - can the bands fans really raise that much?

Rob loves his boy bands and has worked with most of them. When it became too hard to work in Australia with the media - he started POPrepublic.tv. Giving a voice to the pop culture scene for over 16 years (check dates depending on when you read this.) In his other life he is a creative director, film maker, photographer and designer... but pop is his one true love. Along with imaginary boyfriends, Nick Lachey and Channing Tatum (his husband approves).Website: www.robmanser.com
