Hans Zimmer and John Williams scores set for Australian concert tour

The music of two of cinema’s most celebrated composers will be performed by a 64-piece orchestra during a national Australian tour in 2027.
The Music of Hans Zimmer vs John Williams will travel to Brisbane, Adelaide, Sydney, Perth and Melbourne following sold-out performances in the Victorian capital earlier this year.
Presented by John Foreman’s Australian Pops Orchestra and Sony Music Australia, the concert will feature scores from films including Star Wars, Gladiator, Harry Potter, E.T., Interstellar, Jurassic Park and Pirates of the Caribbean.
Foreman will host and conduct the concerts, which will feature a full 64-piece Australian Pops Orchestra, lighting and a family-friendly format.
The production will also include a playful rivalry between the two composers, with audiences invited to choose whether they support Zimmer or Williams.
“I’m absolutely thrilled that the Australian Pops Orchestra is bringing this extraordinary concert to Australian audiences, and especially excited to partner with Sony Music Australia,” Foreman said.
“The response to Melbourne’s sold-out performances earlier this year was incredible, so we’re delighted to be able to expand to a national tour in 2027 and bring this spectacular experience to audiences in Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth and an encore run in Melbourne.”
Foreman said the concert would appeal to film music enthusiasts and people discovering the composers’ work for the first time.
“This is more than a concert. It’s a chance for audiences to relive the soundtracks of their lives,” he said.
“The music of Hans Zimmer and John Williams has shaped some of the most unforgettable moments in film, and to hear these scores performed live, at this scale and accompanied by spectacular lighting, is something truly powerful.”
The Australian Pops Orchestra said the production was designed to make orchestral music accessible to a broad audience by offering a less formal concert experience.
