RICKI-LEE RELEASES NEW SINGLE ‘GHOST’ AND ANNOUNCES FIRST ALBUM IN 10 YEARS!
It’s a massive birthday for Ricki-Lee today (happy birthday sweetheart!) with the announcement of her new single Ghost AND her first album in ten years and we couldn’t be more excited.
Ricki-Lee is one of the hardest working artists in the entertainment industry, and it can’t go unnoticed what she is doing is ground-breaking. She is the first artist to be releasing new music, through her own record label, as well as hosting one of the biggest prime time TV shows in the country (Australian Idol) and her #1 rating national Drive radio show (Ricki-Lee, Tim & Joel) – all at the same time! Almost 20 years into a stellar career, Ricki-Lee is in her prime and is a force to be reckoned with.
The haunting new single ‘Ghost’ is out now and is the third single from her highly anticipated forthcoming fifth studio album titled ‘On My Own’ – which she has just announced will be released on March 8, 2024. This news will delight her loyal fans as it’s Ricki’s first new studio album in a decade. The new album promises to be worth the wait and will include her recent chart-topping singles ‘On My Own’ and ‘Point Of No Return’. The multi-platinum selling ARIA nominated artist tells “Over the last 18 months I have poured my absolute everything into this album and without a doubt it’s my best work to date, I’ve never been prouder.”
‘Ghost’, released today on Ricki-Lee’s birthday – is a song she penned about a close relationship that came to a sudden end, without any explanation.
“I wrote the song about being ghosted. We’ve all been there, and it’s such a weird and frustrating thing to go through because you never really get any closure. It was actually a difficult song for me to write because it’s about losing someone I was extremely close to. One minute they were a huge part of my life, and the next day they were gone. It was like they died…but they didn’t…they just vanished out of my life one day. I was heartbroken. And what makes it worse is that we live in a world where social media keeps everyone connected – but sometimes it’s more like you’re being haunted by the person who ghosted you when you see their face popping up in your DM’s and watching everything you’re doing.”
